Berne, Switzerland

Our dear Australian friends Gaby and Kieran came to visit from Hong Kong, and so we went to Berne (Switzerland's capital) for the day.

Madeleines

Mart saw Bonne Maman madeleines in the supermarket the other day. We didn't buy them but I promised I would make some when we'd be in Switzerland.

The recipe comes from the old cooking book we had during cooking lessons at school.
Here it is if you fancy baking some yourself!

Madeleines
Ingredients
50g butter
100g sugar
1/2 paquet vanilla sugar or 1/2 lemon zest
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
1dl milk
150g plain flour
1 tsp raising powder

Cream the butter in a big bowl. Add the sugar, salt and vanilla sugar or lemon zest. Whisk well. Add the eggs and whisk again. Stir in the milk. Add the flour and raising powder while continuing to whisk.
Fill 3/4 of little moulds which have been previously buttered and floured. And then cook 15 minutes at 220°C.

Christmas in Switzerland

This year we spent the 25th and 26th eating, singing carols and opening presents with both my Dad's and Mum's side of the family. One of the days was spent in an absolutely lovely little house in the countryside, by a pretty little lake... Claire-Lise and Cédric have decorated their house in such a wonderful way - I coudln't resist taking a few photos!

Happy 25th of December everyone!
Thank you for following my advent calendar all through the month.

I wish you all a delightful day with your friends and families!

Happy Holidays!

The snow is pretty much gone here, but we still have little paper snowflakes, made by Mum and Coralie!

Happy Holidays to you all!!

There was so much snow when we arrived in Switzerland yesterday. We went for a lovely walk in the night and really enjoyed it while it lasted as we knew it would rain during the night. This morning all what was left was a very wet and sad looking scenery with droopy and slippery snow everywhere.

Here is, again, a number from a much warmer climate!

More snow in Maastricht! And it keeps on falling - yey!
Here is today's number... it was taken in a much warmer environment, last time we were in Sydney.

Christmas market

We braved the cold to go on our annual ferris wheel tour - it was pretty freezing indeed, but so pretty in the afternoon light!

Paper flower

Remember the beautiful paper sculpture from the other day? I tried making a few small white flowers: they look lovely on our xmas tree!

It's winter!

When checking the weather forecast this morning I saw this:

And in Freemantle (Australia), where Mart's parents are, it said this:

Now: I'm really really reaaaaaly happy we'll be there soon with them (even if the jump from one season to the other might be a little intense in the beginning!).
But first we'll spend a lovely (hopefully white) Christmas in Switzerland. I really wouldn't want to miss winter all together!

Lovely sleep in + lots of sun and a bit of snow + cold wintery morning = perfect start of holidays!

There's a bit of snow falling from the sky again... and tonight is work's xmas party and tomorrow: holidays!

It's almost the holidays! Yey!
I'm off to Pilates for the last time this year.

Enjoy the pretty colours of this number 17!

Colourful felt

In London I fell in love with a colourful rug at Anthropologie. It was made of hundreds of little balls of felt, and just looked so pretty and comfortable - I would have loved to pack it in my suitcase!
And today, on Pickles, what do I find? A beautiful Christmas wreath made with the same 'ingredients'! I need to learn how to make colourful felt balls: I want a wreath and/or a rug like that too!

(1) the beautiful wreath (photo from Pickles)
(2) a quick snap of the rug, seen 'live', in London
(3) the rug as it would look like in situ (photo from Anthropologie)

It's snowing in Maastricht!!
It's something that doesn't happen very often, so I'm really excited!

That day in SF...

Looking at the '15' photo I remember that sunny and windy day in San Francisco... I have tons of photo from the trip which I love, but here are my favourite from that specific day.

15

Now this is a photo I like!
It was actually taken by Mart. I asked him to do so as I couldn't take it myself - being at the front of the tandem we had hired for a few hours and having to steer it as well as I could!

San Francisco (United States), not far from the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

14

This is not my favourite photo ever, but I don't have many 14s to choose from... So here it is: a bright red 14!

Somewhere in the English Channel, on a ferry, while crossing from Dover to Calais.

13

13 is one of my favourite numbers. Probably because I was born on a Friday the 13th. And as so many people dislike the number 13, i feel like I can have it almost to myself!

Somewhere in Switzerland. Maybe Basel?

12

Hi again everyone!
We were off to London for a long weekend, and I didn't get to post my numbers on time. Now is the time to catch up!
Here is number 12...

Music for the weekend

Mart found this the other day; and I love it!

I took a few screenshots while listening to it again tonight... isn't it pretty? Some of the shots would make a great pattern for a knitted xmas jumper!

11

It's Friday again! Days go by so quickly!
Have a great weekend everybody!
